from Jakarta with love

greetings from the land of nasi goreng! as with my previous trip here, i'm staying Hotel Le Meridien where the breakfast buffet is to die for and the service is superb. the only downside is that internet isn't free.

that being said, i won't be going online as often as i usually do.

so there. i'm just checkin in to say i've landed safe and my tummy is full :)

when buying luggages

make sure to test the combination lock before leaving the store.

otherwise, you will end up trying out all possible combinations until you get the right one.

now, if after the first few tries, you are able to get the right combination, good for you. if not, you might end up spending precious time trying to unlock when you could've spent that time actually putting clothes inside that friggin luggage!

or you could just start packing early so you won't freak out when the stupid lock won't open using the default 0-0-0 combination hours before your flight.

procrastinating

i'm leaving in 2 days (if my visa arrives tomorrow that is) and i have yet to pack.
i bought new luggage and it's still in it's package from the store.

at any rate, one thing i know for sure is that i won't be having the same problem i had in Korea coz i got me a bigger luggage. a spankin red one from samsonite.

now, if i can only bring myself to get some clothes in the luggage, then i'll be good.

butterflies in my stomach

the past couple of weeks fell very well on my favor. guy from work and i have been bumping into each other a lot. talking to him is easier now. even managed a few jokes which both made us laugh. o-ha!

i don't know what happened but he seem to now feel at ease around me as well. last week, he made a bet with me that whoever loses will treat the other to lunch. well he won. which meant i have to treat him. i haven't. i know. i'm a dork.

but what can i do? the butterflies in my stomach are just wiggling too much. plus, i'm not even sure if the bet was for real or just his way of saying something for lack of anything to say. paranoid much?

sigh.

fab new find : The Reading Room @ Cubao Expo

after months of raving about Cubao Expo, april finally took me there last night. she was in the mood for some artsy fartsy stuff and she needed inspiration to fuel her creative juices.

so off we went to what i later discovered as probably one of the coolest thing in Philippine retail. Cubao Expo's Artists Fair which featured local artists, designers & musicians was one hell of an event. the street was lined with paintings, indie films, shirts, jewelry, all of which uniquely expressed each artist's individual style.

it was crazy. the good kind of crazy and i loved everything about it. the smell, the sight, the sound. it was like UP days all over again, minus the pressure of school and grades. of course, it didn't hurt that you could shop while holding a bottle of beer. cool huh?!

best part of the night was this quaint but chic store called The Reading Room which features products from local designers and artists. from dresses, to jewelry, to bag organizers, umbrellas, dresses, organic products, head massagers, one is sure to find something that is worth buying at a price that will not break your wallet. love love love everything in it and i'm definitely going back.

who knew that a night of uncensored art can be so much fun! i was never an artsy fartsy girl. but last night was a blast. there was a certain something in the air which i bet only happens when artists get together. a sense of freedom and sheer coolness if i may say so.

congrats to the organizers! can't wait for the next one.

i have a secret

LG Secret (KF750)

and i can't wait to tell everyone about it!

i've been wanting to buy a new phone since forever. was even lusting over the white Nokia E71 for months. so when a friend offered to sell me her brand new secret, i jumped right in and bought it.

yey!

sunday confessions: dork yet again

i have a thing. a gift, if i may say so.

you see, i say what i want, when i want, to whomever i want. call it frankness or honesty or sheer guts and ballsy, i could care less. i just am. i'm not one to shy away from saying something that is true. regardless. some have even called me a bitch. do i care? did i care? not the least bit. in fact, if being a bitch meant staying true, than hail to all dem bitches in the world ;)

BUT. yes, there's a but. a huge buge but.

you see, all those talk about frankness and honesty and guts and balls? they don't come when it counts. at least not around guys i like. and i mean, really really like. friends know this about me. the bitch leaves the door every single time i'm with a guy i like. seriously. my mind turns blank. i get tingles which results in involuntary shivers that make my voice crack while i say useless, pathetic, what-was-i-thinking-dorklike comments. argh!

now, i would understand and it would be more acceptable had it happened back in the days. you know, back when i still had a unibrow and i have yet to discover make-up and when my wardrobe staple was a pair of shorts and a tshirt and the new kids on the block was the happening boy band group. but to have it happen again at this stage in my life? wtf????

this. has. got. to. stop!

wearing the colors of christmas

i haven't had a me time in ages so this weekend, i made sure i had one.

the outcome, i am now wearing the colors of christmas. in summer.

i've gone from blonde to copper red to a full blown redhead! love love love my hair now. i got so obsessed with Kate Blanchet's hair in Benjamin Button that i immediately ask my stylist to change my hair color last Feb. but, his first attempt at transforming me into a redhead sorta fell short of my expectations.

yesterday, however, he pulled through. i've never loved my hair this much haha! i know, i sound so narcisist. can't help it! my hair is fierce! and i mean Tyra-ANTM-fierce ya hear?! (will post a photo soon see photo insets)

as for the other color of christmas, deeaye and i got a lil crazy over our nails. she got hers painted mango yellow while i had mine in lime green.

so there. i'm Christmassing in what probably is the hottest summer ever.

i wanted to blog about my latest conversation with D

Love and Other Disasters

a surprisingly nice film. it's a story about love and all the crazy happy ridiculous things that come along with it.

the movie revolved around Jacks (played by Brittany Murphy) and her crazy friends both gay and straight.

here are some lines which i thought are worth quoting:

Emily 'Jacks' Jackson: "I'm not so sure. Love isn't always a lightning bolt, you know? Maybe sometimes it's just a choice."

"I don't know that Paolo's the love of my life, but I've decided to give him the chance to be. Maybe true love is a decision. You know, a decision to take a chance with somebody. To give to somebody. Without worrying wether they'll give anything back. Or if they're gonna hurt you, or if they really are the one. Maybe love isn't something that happens to you. Maybe it's something you have to choose."

o0o o0o o0o

Therapist: "The stages of a relationship can be defined by farting.

Stage one is the conspiracy of silence. This is a fantasy period where both parties pretend that they have no bodily waste. This illusion is very quickly shattered by that first shy, "Ooh, did you fart," followed by the sheepish admission of truth. This heralds a period of deeper intimacy.

A period I like to call the "Fart Honeymoon", where both parties find each other's gas just the cutest thing in the world.

But, of course, no honeymoon can last forever. And so we reach the critical fork in the fart. Either the fart loses its power to amuse and embarrass thereby signifying true love, or else it begins to annoy and disgust, thereby symbolizing all that is blocked and rancid in the formerly beloved."

what's in a name

now, 33 years later, i'm still wondering where they went :D

American Idol 8 : Michael Jackson Night

Lil Rounds opened up the show with "The Way You Make Me Feel". while the judges loved it, i didn't. well, it was ok. just ok.

next was Scott MacIntyre who sang a not so popular MJ song, "Keep the Faith". the song may not have made it to the top charts but i loved Scott's performance nonetheless. there's something about the way he sings that makes you wanna listen to what he says.

going third was the ever so popular, totally pimped out AI contestant, Danny Gokey. he sang "PYT (Pretty Young Thing)" which is something i have never heard before but as always, Danny delivered.

Michael Sarver came next with his version of "You Are Not Alone". it was surprisingly good. his vocals were the best it has been since the first time i saw him. good job.

and then came Jasmine Murray with "I'll Be There". b-o-r-i-n-g! i think she'll be at the bottom 3.

Kris Allen sang next with his take on "Remember the Time". i have to admit, i was suprised that he made it to the top 13. tonight, however, made me rethink. he's good with his guitar. and contrary to what Simon said about bringing out the wife early in the competition, i think girls will still go gaga over him.

singing "Give in To Me", Allison Iraheta proved to be a powerhouse but i think she was way better when she did "Alone"

Anoop Desai, though uber energetic, didn't do justice to "Beat IT". that being said, however, i don't think he'll be in the bottom 3.

"Never Can Say Goodbye" proved to be a song too big for Jorge Nunez as he struggled with it the entire time. that could very well bring him to the bottom 3.

next is the uber adorable, i-want-to-pinch-her-cheeks, Megan Corkery singing an upbeat "Rockin Robin". i just love watching her perform. she's different, a breath of fresh air in a sea of over the top performers. i don't care what the judges said, i love her!

and then there's Adam Lambert with his version of "Black or White". fine, he nailed it. but i still think he oversings.

next is Michael Buble look alike Matt Giraud who sang "Human Nature". he doesn't just look like the popular crooner, he sounds a bit like him too. that and former AI contestant, Eliot Yamin which makes me like him too.

closing the show was Alexis Grace with "Dirty Diana". nothing really great about it. still, i know she will be safe tomorrow.

all in all, it was an OK night. nothing mindblowing uber memorable performance. hopefully, that changes next week.

so long, FrancisM

i was browsing through my usual blog faves tonight and noticed that the normally angsty, funny, fab and witty ones didn't have their usual tone.

Francis Magalona is dead. and everyone who knew who he was felt the loss.

and then i realized, i too, am sad. the master rapper is gone and no one can ever replace him.

my prayers go to him and the family he left behind.

so long FrancisM. you will be missed.

teeny bopper mode

i am totally crushing on someone.

you know the one that you have in highschool? the kind when just seeing him totally makes your day? the kind that makes your knees wobble when he smiles at you?

that kind. i have it. i have one. at work.

it does feel nice. so i'm saying it again. i am totally crushing on someone. la la la!

now every morning, i give myself ten extra minutes to put on a lil blush and dab a bit of gloss coz ill never know when the universe will turn in my favor and let me get stuck in the elevator with him. hahahaha! it's high school all over again and i can't help but smile.
