oh-la la!

i was browsing thru the cable channels and i chanced upon an old episode of American Chopper. i used to watch this a lot not because i love bikes. i watched mainly because i find  Vincent DiMartino hot. sexy hot. really hot. have i said it enough? he. is. hot.

especially if he's covered with grease.

sigh...

American Idol 8 : Michael Jackson Night

Lil Rounds opened up the show with "The Way You Make Me Feel". while the judges loved it, i didn't. well, it was ok. just ok.

next was Scott MacIntyre who sang a not so popular MJ song, "Keep the Faith". the song may not have made it to the top charts but i loved Scott's performance nonetheless. there's something about the way he sings that makes you wanna listen to what he says.

going third was the ever so popular, totally pimped out AI contestant, Danny Gokey. he sang "PYT (Pretty Young Thing)" which is something i have never heard before but as always, Danny delivered.

Michael Sarver came next with his version of "You Are Not Alone". it was surprisingly good. his vocals were the best it has been since the first time i saw him. good job.

and then came Jasmine Murray with "I'll Be There". b-o-r-i-n-g! i think she'll be at the bottom 3.

Kris Allen sang next with his take on "Remember the Time". i have to admit, i was suprised that he made it to the top 13. tonight, however, made me rethink. he's good with his guitar. and contrary to what Simon said about bringing out the wife early in the competition, i think girls will still go gaga over him.

singing "Give in To Me", Allison Iraheta proved to be a powerhouse but i think she was way better when she did "Alone"

Anoop Desai, though uber energetic, didn't do justice to "Beat IT". that being said, however, i don't think he'll be in the bottom 3.

"Never Can Say Goodbye" proved to be a song too big for Jorge Nunez as he struggled with it the entire time. that could very well bring him to the bottom 3.

next is the uber adorable, i-want-to-pinch-her-cheeks, Megan Corkery singing an upbeat "Rockin Robin". i just love watching her perform. she's different, a breath of fresh air in a sea of over the top performers. i don't care what the judges said, i love her!

and then there's Adam Lambert with his version of "Black or White". fine, he nailed it. but i still think he oversings.

next is Michael Buble look alike Matt Giraud who sang "Human Nature". he doesn't just look like the popular crooner, he sounds a bit like him too. that and former AI contestant, Eliot Yamin which makes me like him too.

closing the show was Alexis Grace with "Dirty Diana". nothing really great about it. still, i know she will be safe tomorrow.

all in all, it was an OK night. nothing mindblowing uber memorable performance. hopefully, that changes next week.

Jasmine and Jorge were sent home. my predictions were spot-on!

American Idol 7 : David Cook Wins!

time to bring out the bubbly as my boo David Cook is the new American Idol. Hurray! Hurray!

Archuleta may have done better during performance night but the 12 million difference in votes proved otherwise. Albeit the not so good original songs, the cookies won over the angels and i couldn't be happier.

it wasn't a surprise though as iTunes, online polls and radio air plays show that Cook does have what it takes. watching and hearing him on stage is a treat each time, leaving you wanting for more. he will definitely make it big.

as his final song aptly says, indeed, he's more than a name or face in the crowd.

Season 7 has come to an end. a new idol has been proclaimed. the curtains have come down and the stage is at rest. a new season will soon begin and i can't wait.

it's official. i hate brooke white!

yes, i do. which is sad because i used to like her. you know, back when she just sang and sounded good instead of capitalizing on her on-the-verge-of-tears drama. which, apparently, works since people still voted for her.

watching her the past couple of weeks had been excruciating. i mean, come on! if she were on audition and she forgot her lyrics, the judges would've called her off right away. you'd think that after her restart on Every Breath You Take she'd learn. but no! she had to do it. again.

never mind that Andrew Lloyd Weber was in the audience. never mind the orchestra. she made a booboo and wanted another take. it's a friggin live show for crying out loud not a dress rehearsal!

she should've gone home this week instead. i'm no fan of Syesha and Carly but they're performances were better by a mile.

not good. seriously.

all i can say is wow

from the moment i saw this, i knew i had to share it as it was simply amazing.

watch how Simon Cowell's jaw literally dropped as 13-yr old Andrew Johnston auditioned for Season 2 of Britain's Got Talent.

PS. you might wanna have a tissue nearby before watching

American Idol 7 : Top 10

it's over for Overmyer. hurray! hurray! she just ain't my cup of tea and i'm glad rocker nurse got the boot.

here she is one last time, Amanda Overmyer singin Back in the USSR:

as for the rest, sadly, except for Brooke White's Let It Be, there hasn't been one performance that rocked my socks off. they're singing The Beatles for crying out loud. what could possibly go wrong?

hopefully, next week's performances are better. Ramiele better step up her game as she can't get by just being cute.

American Idol 7 : Top 11

to quote my ever so favorite idol judge Simon Cowell, America's choices for the bottom three tonight were "spot-on".

David Hernandez' over the top take on I Saw Her Standing There was enough for him to be sent home. too bad his perfect brows didn't do their magic this time.

here's one last look at David:

*****

is it just me or is Ryan Seacrest becoming real obnoxious lately. his continuous banter with Simon, while fun in the beginning, is getting old and is starting to annoy me.

American Idol 7 : Top 12

now the real competition begins.

diva-licious Danny Noriega didn't make the final cut. vocally, he isn't the strongest but his antics are really hilarious and very entertaining. i'd choose him over obnoxious Chikezie anytime.

Asia'h Epperson's take on another huge song may not have impressed both the judges and the viewers but i personally didn't think it was that bad. rocker nurse Amanda Overmyer should've been voted off instead.

as for the other two, the results were no-brainer. Britney impersonator Kady Malloy's lack of personality and constant wrong song choices did it for her. she sings Britney better than she does herself anyway. Legolas look-alike Luke Menard finally got the boot. hurray hurray! he just sounds so whiney each time and i couldn't endure another week of his voice. sorry. he's an eye-candy but he sings like a lady.

David Archuleta remains my favorite with Brooke White coming in a far second. i wanna love Ramiele Malubay but for some reason, i can't. not just yet. i know she has that big voice but she has yet to put on a performance that showcases that.

early favorite Michael Johns< who blew me away on Hollywood week seems to be getting worse week after week. i just hope he does better on the weeks to come. wouldn't want to lose another eye-candy now, do we?

******

PS. what the heck is wrong with Paula Abdul?????? it's painful watching/listening to her go on and on and on and on like a broken CD, skipping one track after another. sheesh!

American Idol 7 on Rickey.org

American Idol: Official FOX Site much as i want to watch every episode of American Idol as they are shown on primetime tv, i can't. my work doesn't allow me to. and while there are several replays in cable, it's just not the same.

that being said, i am ever so happy that i discovered Rickey Yaneza, a New York based pinoy, who, in his website, features videos and audio streams of each performance. hurray! hurray!

now, workin' late on idol nights won't be that bad.

ooppss time to get back to work. ssshhhhh!

American Idol 7 : Top 24

and then there were 24.

it is obviously a better season and there were a few whom i'm gonna be rooting for. sadly, my earlier fave diva Leo Marlowe didn't make it. neither did cute farmboy Drew Poppelreiter.

i do have my new faves: hottie Michael Johns who blew me away with his take on Queen's Bohemian Raphsody and filipino-american Ramiele Malubay who, once again, makes me oh so proud to be Pinoy

my heart goes out to josiah lemming, who didn't make it. he's one talented boy and for the first time since i started watching the show, i teared up as he made his final walk. i would've loved to see more of him instead of Colton Berry. oh well.

voting starts next week and i can't wait.

to learn more about the contestants, here's a link for Season 7's Top 24

so far, the only memorable auditions for me are those of adorable diva Leo Marlowe and cute farm boy Drew Poppelreiter

oh and must i forget our very own Renaldo Lapus and his original song?

now i have reason to go home early on wednesdays and thursdays! well, that is, if work permits. crap!

American Idol : 6 - Finale

while this season's finale wasn't as strong as the ones before, Jordin's take on the final song showed everyone why she deserved to win.

This Is My Now, written by Scott Krippayne & Jeff Peabody which bested 19 other original songs, paved the way to Jordin's idol victory.

it was perfect. Jordin gave the kind of vibe Taylor did on the first few lines of Do I Make You Proud.

same goosebumps, same message.

different song, different person.

and what do u know? my fearless forecast came true.

~~~~~~~~
personal faves on the top 20 songs:
This Is My Now, One Night, You Never Gave Up on Me, If You Ask Me To, All The Love Your Heart Can Hold
American Idol : 6 - Melinda Goes Home
surprised? YES.
sad? NO!!!
while it's true that she has the best voice among the three, i have to say i was never a fan of Melinda and seeing her go this week kinda brought a smile on my face.
listening to her is one thing. watching her is another.
and i stand by what i said on my fearless forecast that adorable Jordin will be this year's idol.
American Chopper
American Chopper The Series
yet another sleepless night for me but i didn't mind. i was, after all, watching one of my fave shows. American Chopper, for those who have yet to hear of the show, is about a garage turned bike shop called OCC (Orange County Choppers) which is regarded as one of the world’s premier builders of custom motorcycles and are known for their theme bikes.
i first learned of the show last year through my brother and i got hooked eversince. not because of the bikes that they make but because of the way they make them. plus the fact that the cast are totally hilarious. well, at least most of the time.
the cast includes founder Paul Sr. , his sons Paul Jr. and Mickey and Paul Jr.'s friend, my new eye candy, Vinnie.
he ain't buffed. he ain't clean cut. he's chubby. he's chunky. he's my new eye candy!
show airs on the Discovery Channel. you may wanna check your local cable stations for the airtimes.
American Idol : 6 - Finally!!!!
Sanjaya's stint ended today! And i couldn't be any happier!
I know a lot of the so-called Fanjayas in the world are sad but i'm sure they weren't surprised. It's been long overdue. The hair and the antics just weren't enough this week.
However, that being said, i'm still not wowed by this year's batch. It's just not the same. While it's true that there is more variety in this year's competition, past idol contestants were better than most of the finalists today.
I still have high hopes for Jordin and Blake though.
As for Melinda, i was grinning from ear to ear when Simon made that comment about her acting surprised each time a complement is given. Sheesh! I mean, how many praises does she need to actually believe that yes, she can sing and she sings well?!
American Idol : 6 - Top 16 Disappointing Results
i'm sure a lot would agree about last night's vote results. heck even Sanjaya Malakar couldn't hide his surprise when his name wasn't called out. it's just too bad America didn't go with what the judges thought of Aj Tabaldo who's performance was better by a mile over the others.
as for the girls, i stand firm to what i previously said about Antonella Barba. i don't like her at all. fine, she can sing but there's somethin about her i'm not diggin. would've loved to see more of Alaina Alexander instead of her.
next week is the last elimination for the final 12. let's just hope that America would realize it is a TALENT show and vote based on that.
~~~~~

Kellie Pickler sure did "grow" a wee bit dontcha think? she's got curves where it matters now hehe! way to go country girl! just try not to look slutty next time. you got the voice sweetie, and ur pretty face need not be covered with such mess-up!

American Idol : 6 - Fearless Forecast

only on it's second performance week and i already got the Idol fever. well, maybe not as high as last year's but i'm expecting it to heat up as the weeks pass.

i know it's too early in the season but my fearless forecast is that a girl would win this time.

while Lakisha Jones had a very commanding first week and obviously an early judges fave, my cards are on Jordin Sparks . i simply adore her!

for the boys, i'd say either Phil Stacey or Chris Sligh would be the last guy booted out. if the audience decide to vote based on talent, that is.

as for last week's eliminated idols, Antonella Barba should've been the one sent home instead of Amy Krebs.

it's idol night once again tomorrow and i can't wait. hopefully the guys do better this week.
